Scene Study & Monologues

In small groups, students will work on scenes (Tuesdays) and monologues (Thursdays) to develop nuanced and compelling characters and relationships, tapping into their own imaginative worlds in response to examination of the text. Students will learn to dig beneath the surface to find what is driving a character and the action of the scene. Emphasis will be placed on making bold and specific choices, and working from a brave physical, emotional, and intellectual place within a supportive environment.

Students will benefit from the small group setting, as we will have time to fully explore the themes, circumstances, and motivations within the text of each scene and monologue, and to find the joy of discovery through the process of that exploration.

Social distancing will be observed. Space is limited: classes will be capped at 6 students. Students can request placement with up to 2 other students.
