The Play Group Theatre has the privilege to honor Michael Lebowich at this year's Annual Benefit. For over a decade, Mike has provided PGT with insight, guidance, and generous support. As a member of the Board of Trustees, and as Board Chair from 2015 to 2021, Mike drew on his legal knowledge and experience within the professional performing arts industry to provide PGT with valuable expertise and resources. His guidance and leadership was put to the test when PGT faced a myriad of challenges due to the global pandemic. Mike rose to the challenge, guiding PGT through this difficult time with insight, wisdom, and care, helping to ensure that we re-opened our doors safely.
As alumni parents (Marina, PGT '19), Michael and his wife Jenna know personally the impact PGT programs have on children and teens. Fostering PGT's continuation and success has been an on-going family effort. The Lebowich family's generous financial support brings the gift of theatre programming to local students and families year after year.
Michael's passion for theatre has been an inspiration throughout his years of service. The Staff, Trustees and PGT Community are proud to honor and thank him for everything he has done to set The Play Group Theatre on solid footing for the next decade of PGT Magic.
In partnership with The White Plains School District, The PGT Generations Program selects a cohort of students from each of White Plains' five elementary schools to participate in year-round theatre programming at PGT, including 2 MainStage productions and PGT's summer camp, throughout their elementary, middle and high school years. Kids who grow up in The Play Group Theatre's programs find lifelong connections to mentors and peers; they find creative inspiration and a drive for success; they welcome new discoveries and develop formative thinking. PGT's Generations Program expands sustained access to arts programming for those children for whom it would otherwise not be possible. Welcome next year's PGT Generations cohort with your gift and by joining us for The PGT Annual Benefit!
The Barbara Whitman Scholarship Fund supports our partnerships with the White Plains Youth Bureau and El Centro Hispano, as well as our broader reach to local families and children in the Westchester communities, allowing us to open our doors and arms to those who would otherwise be denied access to quality arts education. These seasonal need-based scholarships go a long way towards realizing PGT's mission of serving all children and teens interested in the performing arts, regardless of financial means.
