Formerly the Actor Training Program, the new PGT Mainstage series will feature a diverse range of plays and musicals - all fully produced in our fabulous new Mainstage Theater!
Actors who wish to participate in the PGT Mainstage program must audition at the beginning of each season. (Fall auditions are held in September and Spring auditions are held in January.) Each show will rehearse, on average, two evenings per week, with occasional rehearsals on Sundays too.
At PGT, we strongly believe that our students should take time to study the art of theatre not only in rehearsal, but also in specially designed classes and workshops that will help them learn and grow as artists; exposing them to a variety of teaching artists and techniques. Under the new Mainstage program, students will have the opportunity to work with a team of teachers assigned to their cast.
While one rehearsal each week will follow the current model of 6:00pm call, to be determined by the director's schedule, one rehearsal each week will include a 5:00pm FULL CAST call. At this time, the full team of director, musical director, choreographer and teaching artists will come together with the cast to take care of cast business (i.e. costume fittings, notes, birthday celebrations, announcements) and to then break off into classes, guided by the show's director and implemented by the team teachers. Class curriculum will be dictated by the demands and needs of each show, and the skills taught will naturally feed back into the rehearsal process.
We are so excited for this new and improved program, which will allow our artistic staff to truly work as a team, challenging and inspiring our students as they continue on their creative journey!
