RACHEL BERGER

Current School: Northwestern University
Major: Theatre, with minors in Creative Writing Fiction and French
How have your years at PGT influenced your college experience?: PGT taught me how to work deeply and have fun doing it. It taught me how to be an active member of a community at large. And, it taught me that my voice deserves to be heard.
What PGT skill or lesson have you found to be most valuable out 'in the world?': Before every show at PGT, I was told to take a moment, look around, and remember how lucky I was. To breathe and appreciate the talented people around me. Life is always crazy. And wow, it moves fast. But sometimes you have to take a moment, look around, and appreciate where you are.
Plans for next year?: A job would be fantastic.
ROSS BAUM

Favorite PGT Show:Hair
Current School: Syracuse University
Major: Musical Theatre
How have your years at PGT influenced your college experience?: As a Drama major at Syracuse, I use my PGT training everyday - and not just in the obvious sense. Beyond a strong foundation of theatre skills, I entered my training program with confidence, professionalism, the ability to take risks without judgement, and an openness to others and to my work. PGT single-handedly prepared me with the skills to thrive as a respected member of my school community.
What PGT skill or lesson have you found to be most valuable out 'in the world?': Collaboration! PGT is all about collaboration - whether you are 8 or 18, you are an integral part of the process. The lessons I have found most valuable "in the world" have been in interacting with others, knowing when to lead and when to be led, and most importantly, always treating your peers and teachers with respect and gratitude.
Plans for next year?: Moving to New York City to pursue a career in theatre, and staying open to any and all opportunities that come my way!
LIZA PINCUS

Current School: Harvard
Major: History and Literature
How have your years at PGT influenced your college experience?: PGT gave me the confidence to approach professors, speak up in class, make friends, etc. It also instilled in me how important it is to find strong communities wherever I go.
What PGT skill or lesson have you found to be most valuable out 'in the world?': Everyone I meet has more than one valuable story to tell.
Plans for next year?: Spending the year in Berlin!
SARAH STEIN

Favorite PGT Show:Guys and Dolls
Current School: Wesleyan University
Major: Psychology
How have your years at PGT influenced your college experience?: Returning home from college for the first time is a pretty strange experience. You start to realize that everything has stayed the same in your absence, which can make you feel insignificant. But I never felt that way when it came to PGT. It always seemed like we were truly missed by the staff and students. PGT is a place where the students really matter as individuals - we are vital to the community even after graduating.
What PGT skill or lesson have you found to be most valuable out 'in the world?': Taking classes and performing at PGT honed important skills having to do with presentation and speaking in front of others. My teachers and directors at PGT not only taught me how to act and sing and dance, but they also encouraged me to be confident while I was doing it. Once you have experienced dancing and singing onstage in a crazy outfit in front of an entire audience of people, a job interview suddenly doesn't seem so scary.
Plans for next year?: Working at PGT summer camp (!!!) and then moving to Buenos Aires in September for an indeterminate amount of time!
ANYA LICHTENSTEIN

Favorite PGT Show:The Dining Room
Current School: University of Pennsylvania
Major: English
How have your years at PGT influenced your college experience?: In addition to instilling a love of theatre in me and sending me down the road toward involvement in college student theatre, PGT taught me to be smart about theatre. Through watching the PGT staff teach and direct, I learned how to see the bigger picture, dream up and execute an artistic vision, get others in on that vision with me. These tools and life skills proved vital in directing UPenn's Front Row Theatre Company production of Spelling Bee.
Plans for next year?: I'm excited to be serving as chair of the Pennsylvania Players Board of Governors and terrified to be writing a thesis on Beckett's Happy Days.
SARAH SPANGENBERG

Current School: The University of the Arts
Major: Musical Theatre
How have your years at PGT influenced your college experience?: PGT taught me how to create an ensemble. I have applied everything I've learned directly to my conservatory training. I also learned to be myself no matter what and reach out to people I might not otherwise reach out to.
What PGT skill or lesson have you found to be most valuable out 'in the world?': PGT showed me that being a positive upbeat person will ensure you get along with anyone your are creating art with.
Plans for next year?: Auditioning in both NYC and Philadelphia and applying all the tools I have learned from my BFA training.
